Orville piloted the gasoline powered propeller driven biplane which stays aloft for about 12 seconds and covered around 120 feet on its inaugural flight. Orville and Wilbur Wright inspired and had an interest in aviation after learning the aviation flights of the German engineer Otto Lilienthal.
