You are a top fashion influencer and a full-time lawyer, what is a typical day like?
“Well, I work full-time so the weekdays are quite rigid. I start my day around 6:30 AM and require a lot of caffeine before doing anything productive. As a lawyer, I always try and give the clients the best service I can, so I try and respond to emails that I have received after work hours".
"I get ready, put on my suit and get to work around 9 AM everyday. I usually have a packed day and finish up anywhere between 5-6:30 PM. After work, I train for cricket and that goes till about 8:30 PM"
"After getting home, I eat and get a bit of down time. Before going to bed, I have to get my outfit for tomorrow ready so I pick out my accessories and suit and have it hanging ready for me to wear the next morning”.
Striking prints, eye-catching accessories and classic pieces that return with force are some of the elements that should not be missing in the closet. What's the dress code on a daily basis?
“Suits, suits and more suits”.
I hope you do not spoil all the plans of leisure and work that you have for this weekend in Melbourne city. Mr. Mahir, what do you wear on a casual Saturday?
“Saturdays are usually my day to dress according to my mood. Living in Melbourne, you can never predict how the weather will play out. I am a huge fan of cardigans and chinos. My go to Saturday outfit would include chinos/jeans, with a t-shirt and cardigan to top it off with loafers. I love wearing drivers/loafers. I truly enjoy their comfort and utility”.
What do you like outside of fashion?
“I have always been a sports fanatic. I grew up playing cricket, tennis, soccer, and table tennis. So I keep up to date with all sorts of sporting events. Being from Melbourne, you can sometimes forget how blessed we are to have all types of major sporting events. My getaway from the usually hectic routine is playing or just following different sporting events”.
There are social networks for all tastes and personalities. Which social media platform are you most active on?
“Unequivocally Instagram. I have never been a keen user of social media, however, Instagram has always appealed to me. I really like that you can interact with like-minded people and focus on content that ignites a fire in you to be the best that you can”.
Reading implies a cognitive process. What kind of content interests Mr. Qureshi?
“I am a sucker for all things fashion. I follow a tonne of bloggers, regardless of their gender. I am also really into hair and men’s grooming. Always on the lookout to try new hairstyling products and I am currently obsessed with Baxter English pomade”.
We can sense that there is something very intimate in the act of reading. What websites do you read every day?
“Sydney Morning Herald to keep up with current affairs
GQ in my downtime, usually between traveling to and from places and
Cricinfo, I spend way too much time reading about cricket”.
24 hours in Dubai, what do you do? Would you like to tell what to see in Dubai in such a short time?
“I have been very fortunate to visit Dubai multiple times. I would suggest visiting old Dubai (Deira) to understand how far the city has come. During the afternoon, I would recommend spending as much time as you can at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), it’s absolutely remarkable. In the evening, you could hit any of the shopping malls (Dubai has amazing shopping); my personal favourite is Mall of Dubai. If you have a bit of time to spare, I would make the effort of driving to Abu Dhabi and seeing the Grand Mosque (it’s beautiful, especially at night)”.
Name any three films that people need to see. If you respond, you will enter the draw for a dinner for two
“The God Father”
“Shawshank Redemption”
“Superbad”
What have you seen, watched or listened to lately?
“I am currently obsessed with the Weekend’s new album. It’s seriously on repeat!
I have been catching up on the latest season of ‘Suits’ I have to say that’s definitely one of the best shows I’ve watched”.
Second mortgage for shoes: how does it work?
Do I need to take out a second mortgage for shoes? “To be honest, you might as well. It’ll be worth it”.
