How to Tie a Van Wijk Knot

The Van Wijk Knot offers an artisanal quality to your tailored suits. It offers a tall, three tiered cylinder effect that looks superbly elegant. It was invented by an artist named Lisa Van Wijk who wanted to invent the tallest tie knot in the world. Accordingly, the Van Wijk Knot is an elongated number that will make a sublime statement at formal events. Basically, if you want a tie knot that says, "I read French literature and visit fancy art galleries in my spare time," the Van Wijk Knot will do all the talking for you.

ABOUT THIS KNOT

The Van Wijk Knot was invented by an artist, which basically makes it the Mona Lisa of tie knots. It is (unofficially) the tallest tie knot in the world because of its layered, cylindrical effect. Trust us, the Van Wijk Knot will make you look very cultured!

Van Wijk Knot Pressure points

Theoretically, the Van Wijk Knot is actually easy to master, but precision must be taken with every step to ensure it’s executed with finesse. When executing the wrap arounds, make sure you keep the loops loose so you can navigate the wide length of the tie through them with ease.

Styling tips for the van wijk knot

The Van Wijk Knot is an incredibly sophisticated tie knot that commands attention. This is why special care should be taken with the Van Wijk Knot to ensure it's done justice. Make sure you wear it with a narrow collared shirt to avoid large gaps between the knot and the collar. It works superbly with formal attires because it offers that extra point of difference from standard tie knots. It may look a bit overwhelming in office settings.
