The Pitti Immagine Uomo Show Guide 2017
Pitti Immagine Uomo presents twice a year the men's clothing collections and accessories of the best international designers. This event is the world's leading buyers gathering point that focuses on the quality of Italy's famous and emerging international brands. The event is reserved for industry professionals only. The previous edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, held in January 2017, was visited by 36,000 professionals. The countries with the largest number, apart from Italy itself, were Germany, Japan, and Spain, with 693 professionals.
The Hit List:
As usual, the next edition will feature a large number of events and special presentations. Among them are the three that we develop below and whose protagonists are Jonathan Anderson, Virgil Abloh, and Hugo Boss.
Jonathan Anderson
Designer Jonathan W. Anderson has been chosen as a guest designer during Pitti Immagine Uomo. J.W. Anderson will present for the first time in Italy his men's spring/summer collection for 2018. Anderson will be added to the list of designers who previously had a guest role at the Italian fashion event such as Tim Coppens and Raf Simons.
"I am very honored with the invitation I have received to parade in Pitti Uomo. Florence, with its extraordinary beauty, will provide an extraordinary backdrop", Jonathan Anderson stated.
Virgil Abloh
The American designer and DJ, Virgil Abloh has had a great success since the creation of his streetwear couture brand, Off-White in 2013. As part of the upcoming event of Pitti Uomo, the designer will organize a special event on Thursday, June 15, where he will unveil his men's collection for spring-summer 2018 and part of his female per-collection. Virgil himself commented:
"It is a great honor to present my collection for the first time in Pitti Immagine Uomo, one of the most important platforms in the world for men's fashion. My goal is to add a new chapter to this success story".
Virgil Abloh has transformed his own lifestyle into a mark of success thanks to his artistic maturity. There are no more than three or four creators with a profile like his. With his design studio in Milan, his brand includes male and female collections, as well as a collection of household objects and a series of publications offering a contemporary cultural vision.
Hugo Boss returns to Pitti Uomo
Hugo Boss is central in the vanguard! After a long absence, Hugo Boss returns to Pitti Uomo. The German brand, which participated for several years in the men's fashion show in Florence with memorable events, is planning a parade for the next summer edition, to be held from 13 to 16 June. It will be a mixed parade that will incorporate the collections for men and women for the spring-summer 2018 of Hugo the group's youth line.
With its innovative approach, Hugo addresses an audience that is conscious of his own style and very attentive to trends. At the same time, its communication strategy focuses on the online universe and social networks. Hugo's new campaign, based on a primarily digital approach and captured by photographer Harley Weir, presents portraits of leading talents from the world of art, music, film and fashion.
Ve.An Fashion will also be present at 92 Pitti Immagine Uomo. On this occasion, the famous brand will have the pleasure of presenting the brand ALESSANDRO DELL'ACQUA inside the central pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso. The use of high-quality raw materials combined with an innovative and sought after stylistic proposal aims to create a project in line with "Made in Italy" and local production traditions. Color palettes, along with up-to-date prints and styling, are harmoniously integrated elements that once again give birth to an eye-catching collection with the utmost detail.
Guest Nation: Australia
Australia is in the spotlight of the next Pitti Uomo. The most promising names of the Australian fashion scene will be presented in Florence in the special Guest Nation project presented by the Pitti Immagine Discovery Foundation in collaboration with The Woolmark Company, Scheduled for 13-16 June. Each designer will have to create his own collection using Australian Merino Wool to highlight the functionalities of this raw material that adapts to all conditions.
The seven designers selected are Chris Ran Lin, Commas, Double Rainbouu, Exinfinitas, Sener Besim, Strateas.Carlucci and Ten Pieces.
WHO IS ON NEXT?
The next season marks the ninth edition of WHO IS ON NEXT? This prestigious competition dedicated to the young designers in the category of menswear is promoted by Pitti Uomo in association with "Altaroma" and "Vogue Men". The event is organized by the "Pitti Discovery Foundation". A jury composed of buyers, journalists, and other influencers will decide the finalists. The winner will be selected during the next edition of Pitti Uomo, which will be held in Florence from 13 to 16 June.
The winner will participate in the next edition of the show (the winter edition), where he will present his collection in the framework of a special event. Also, he will be credited with a specific accompaniment, within the plan of Pitti Tutorship, the division of tutorials, established since last year by the organizers of the Florentine Hall. The contest is sponsored by different brands, including Tomorrow London Limited.
Photographic Exhibition
To accompany the work of the designers will also be the photographic exhibition and digital project conceived for the occasion by the famous Australian photographer Bartolomeo Celestino, which will add a further creative dimension to the design set of the Guest Nation Australia area.
Conceptual artist working with video, photography, and sculpture, Celestino focuses on his research on the issues of seriality, the return to nature and its sublimation, using panoramic formats to represent the picturesque Australian landscapes.
"Boom, Pitti Blooms"
The summer salons organized by Pitti Immagine will be pervaded by the vital energy and the amazing beauty of the flowers. A triumph of colors that inspires the theme of the upcoming events, strong and onomatopoeic at the same time: "Boom, Pitti Blooms".
